Muddin' Adventures

There's nothing like the first snow of the season, blanketing everything in a soft white frost.
As the sun rises on the new scene and it all slowly melts away.
Nothin makes better mud.
The boys (Indian Boy and Pirate) called me up just as it was getting dark and we headed out to the hills.
Nothing is more exciting then speeding through the darkness, mud flying everywhere, music blaring, bouncing around the truck. This was the whole purpose of 4-Wheel Drive being invented.
You know you got a good truck when it can slide over an 11 foot bank, land on its side, and then drive away.
Every new dent is a new memory and makes for a hell of a story later.
And you know you have a good friend when he will drive out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night to flip you back over. Then dig you out of the ditch and get you home.
I can still see it now; the three of us standing there freezing and covered in mud and snow. Standing in the headlights, trying to dig our way out, pulling tow ropes out and pulling it back over.
That's a memory I'm going to cherish forever, I love those boys. haha

That's not Camo

I'm fairly certain the official colors of my town are Mossy Oak. haha
I love camouflage. And apparently so do most people around here.
But I was recently informed that while there are several types of "Camo" there is only 1 true camouflage- And its not that green and brown blotchy stuff!
Nope. Its Mossy Oak or its not Camo. End of story.

Duck Hunting

Called in a favor and got my friend. Indian Boy, to take me hunting.
I've never shot a shotgun... or killed nothin' but fish. So here we are tromping through the swap and trees in muck boots to our knees.
"Here's the gun" he says, handing it to me. "Now there's gonna be a duck on the water just over that ridge. Go kill it." He instructed.
"Um... Im going to need more specific instructions." I said.
"Button. Aim. Shoot. Now go!" He said.
So I sneek my way up and over the ridge... no duck.
No such luck with the next ridge, and as I see the bird it sees me and goes to take off. "Quick SHOOT!" He whisper shouts... so I did.
But I forgot to aim. Actually I Just kinda pointed the gun in the right direction and pulled the trigger.
Totally hip shot it. haha And suddenly I couldn't hear... or stand up straight. The world was spinning.
The dog and him took of through the trees to get the duck he had apparently shot when I missed.
But I set the gun down. Then I sat down... and I stayed there for a good 5 minutes before he came back for me.
I don't think I'm ever gonna live that one down. lol He tells everyone I "John Wayne'd it"
But they got several ducks and a couple raccoon's they saw in the trees. And it was one of the most memorable adventures I've ever had.
